Creamy Sour Cream Beef Noodle Casserole

Directions:

Step 1: Prepare and Cook the Beef
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion for about 10 minutes until browned. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until aromatic.

Step 2: Make the Sauce
Stir in the tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper, then remove from heat.

Step 3: Boil the Noodles
Cook the egg noodles in salted boiling water according to package instructions. Drain well and set aside.

Step 4: Prepare the Creamy Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the sour cream and cottage cheese. Add the cooked noodles, season lightly with salt and pepper, and mix until evenly coated.

Step 5: Assemble the Layers
Spread half of the creamy noodle mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Add half of the meat sauce over the noodles.
Repeat with the remaining noodles and sauce.

Step 6: Bake the Casserole
Top with shredded cheddar cheese. Bake for about 30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the casserole is bubbling.

Step 7: Let It Rest
Allow the casserole to sit for 10 minutes before serving so it can set slightly, making it easier to portion and serve.
